IBERSOL | Annual Report 2020

ANNUAL REPORT 2020 Regarding the restaurants and counters segments, the impact of clo- sures, restrictions of movement and limited opening hours were miti- gated, to some extent, by the fact that delivery and take-away contin- ued to operate. The increase in delivery sales, through the boosting both of internal ca- pacity and partnerships with home delivery operators allowed the com- pany to obtain a sales volume that represented 22.5% of total restaurant sales for the year. However, it should be noted that these sales entail additional costs of raising and transport, which reduce the margin of this business. The counter segment proved to be more resilient to the pandemic re- strictions, with fewer losses compared to the previous year and a faster pace of recovery. Three factors contributed to this: i) the impact of the expansion which occurred in the second half of 2019 and the 4th trimester of 2020, namely with the Burger King, KFC and Taco Bell brands; ii) the continued operation of restaurants with delivery and take- away services following the declaration of the state of emergency; iii) the positive performance of restaurants with drive-thru services (operated by Burger King and KFC brands) which helped over- come the losses registered in the eat-in services. In 2020, 54 units were closed, 21 of which were franchisees, mostly lo- cated in Spain. 27
