Commitment to Social Responsibility
The social responsibility of companies involves the in-
clusion of social, economic and environmental meas-
ures in their daily operations, with a view to impacting
the business and contributing to a more positive world.
Ibersol’s decision to publish its first Sustainability Re-
port in 2007 followed considerations by top manage-
ment and was part of a natural maturing phase for the
organization. Now, as the 6th issue of this Report is
published, Ibersol experiences social responsibility not
just as a concern but as a
sine qua non
condition for its
own sustainability and that of the community around it.
Increasing environmental problems, the aging popula-
tion, the emergence of personal problems that affect its
personnel and the loss of purchasing power due to the
current economic situation are just some of the prob-
lems that have shaped the way Ibersol faces its com-
mitment to social responsibility. Ibersol thereby seeks
to remain vigilant and to manage, proactively whenever
possible, the risk factors and threats to the business
and its stakeholders.
As it is not possible to eliminate the impacts of their ac-
tion, it is the duty of all the companies to know how to
best follow and manage them. Parallel to this, the open
communication of these risks and threats becomes a vi-
tal aspect of the companies’ relations with their respec-
tive stakeholders, supporting decision-making about in-
vestment and the building of market relationships.
At Ibersol, yearly publication of the Sustainability Re-
port, along with the Annual Report and Accounts, ena-
bles creation of a special channel to transparently and
faithfully report the business’s impacts, and has become
an indispensable instrument for dialogue and account-
ability for the different stakeholders.
The 6th Ibersol Sustainability Report maintains the
alignment of previous editions and is arranged to focus
on the main lines of development governing the organi-
zation’s sustainability, each accordingly by chapter. It
details the respective year’s performance indicators and
milestones as well as main future challenges.
The scope of this report comprises the activity of the
companies held by Ibersol S.G.P.S, S.A., in Portuguese
territory during the year 2012. Figures for the Group
overall, including Spain and, this year for the first time,
Angola, are occasionally presented throughout the re-
port.
Whenever possible, for a more thorough understand-
ing of the progress of the Group’s performance, figures
from previous years are also presented.
All the processes mentioned throughout this report, as
well as the indicators presented, are subject to system-
atic internal and external audits. The financial figures
were audited by the Chartered Accountants in the con-
text of the Annual Report.
This report is also made available to our stakeholders
for their evaluation and opinions, with a view to con-
