Water
Water is a vital resource for Ibersol’s activity, to assure
unit hygiene and cleaning, especially inwork areas and
customer attendance, and for equipment, cooking uten-
sils and dishes, as well as for washing ingredients and
continual hand hygiene for all food handlers.
In 2014, the total volume of water consumption was
181,264m3, totalling a raise of approx. 5%compared to
the previous year and is due to the increase registered in
the activity in 2014. However, taking into consideration
the water consumption and the increase in the sales,
we registered an effective reduction of 3%.
To continue to foster rational use of this resource, we
highlight the following:
- The timely identification and repair of thewater leaking
points and the installation of directional showers in the
dish washing units to prevent wasting of water.
- The use of flow restrictors in taps, redistributing its
content with 50% of water and 50% of air. This meas-
ure allows us to minimise water consumption whilst
maintaining the same feeling of pressure in washing.
- The extension of the use in kitchen/prep areas of pre-
wash low-flow sprayers tomaintain or improve cleaning
efficiency, reducing the amount of water used.
- The promotion of washing machine use only when
full, to minimize water consumption besides reducing
electric power consumption.
The variation in 2014/ 2013 taking into
consideration the sales represents an effective
reduction of 3%.
