equipments in cool and ventilated places, apart from any sources
of heat.
Investment, throughout the year, in preventive maintenance, na-
mely by cleaning the capacitors, evaporators and ventilators of
the refrigerator equipments. This measure affects the reduction in
consumption of energy, due to the enhancement of the circulation of
air for cooling the circulating gas, thus avoiding malfunctions which
result in expensive costs and long stops.
Several measures were also taken regarding the use of dishwashing
machines - one of themost demanding electric appliances in energy
consumption, being 90% of such consumption referring to water
heating. Reduction of the use of dish washing machines during the
peak hours, and use them only when in full change; use of short or
economic programs in half charge (eco); rinsing of the dishes with
(cold) water before putting them in the dish washer machine, and
some other maintenance procedures, such as frequent cleaning
of the filter, improve considerably the energetic behaviour of this
equipment.
Effective use of photovoltaic panels for the production of electric
energy. Exploitation of the panels already installed has registered
an increase of performance by 5,8%when compared to the previous
year. The installed units produced a consumption of 11,945 kWh, which
avoided the emission of 5.6 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
