SOCIAL PERFORMANCE
Operational health and security were one of priorities in
2013 and it was notorious the dedication and commit-
ment of all towards the success achieved. Whereas in
2012 we have implemented and promoted self-protec-
tion measures, strengthening the importance given to
the working safety conditions, 2013 was marked by the
commitment and carefulness of the teams in implement-
ing the occupational health standards, as well as tracking
and reducing the number of accidents of the Group.
The investigation and carefulness in communication
and detailing the occupational accidents helped to iden-
tify the main causes of the accidents, thus enabling us to
take focused and pertinent actions on the most relevant
risk factors. The endeavoured efforts in this respect re-
sulted in a decrease by 15.5% of the number of occupa-
tional accidents, in comparison to 2012, due to the raise
of business awareness in this matter.
The contest “Apanha a Tarefa Segura” (Catch the Safe
Task), conceived to celebrate the World Day for Safety
Health and Safety by numbers:
• Nearly 500 work safety audits carried out by external
bodies.
• Decrease by 15.5% of occupational accidents, in com-
parison with the previous year.
• Improvement of the Frequency Rate (47.06) in com-
parison with the previous year.
and Health at Work, was another
way to promote ‘safe’ behaviours
throughout the Group’s units.
Burger King Aveiro and Pans
Seixal worked hard in this ini-
tiative and won the contest.
2013 also showed the best fre-
quency and least seriousness
rates, in comparison with the
previous years,
due to the de-
crease in the number of occupational accidents, as
well as in the number of sick leave days (we estimate
the accidents occurred in 2013 will result in less 1,000
sick leave days than the ones registered in 2012).
These results constitute a strong incentive for us to
continue to invest in the health and safety of our em-
ployees, as we are certain of the positive impact on
productivity, quality of service and wellbeing of every
employee.
Occupational health and safety
• Improvement of the Severity Rate (0.80) in comparison
with the previous year.
• Estimated less 1,000 sick leave days in result of labour
accidents in 2013, when compared to 2012.
