Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement
Portugal is a non-
profit association
committed to bringing training programmes to schools
to help children and young people develop a taste for
entrepreneurship. In this regard, the following pro-
grammes have been developed: The Family (1st grade
students), The Community (2nd grade students), Econo-
my for Success (9th grade students), and more recently,
The Europe (5th and 6th grade students) and This is My
Business (7th and 8th grade students).
In the scope of the Oporto of the Future project, each
company is asked to send a group of volunteers who
oversee these training programmes in the enrolled
classes of the partner school during the school year.
In 2013, Ibersol had the participation of 4 volunteers
who trained 73 students from schools in the António
Nobre School Grouping.
c) Right Arm
The Braço Direito (Right Arm) project
involves students from António Nobre
School Grouping, who accompany a
professional (volunteer) during a work-
ing day. During that day the profes-
sional shares experience and knowledge with the stu-
dent, who takes part in the volunteer’s daily activities.
The project’s goals are to contribute towards the voca-
tional orientation of young people who visit the com-
pany, giving them a first contact with the business world
and different available career paths, besides providing
them with knowledge about the culture and practices of
the host organization.
In 2013, Ibersol took in seven students, who accompa-
nied various professionals from the company’s business-
es (restaurant teams from Miit, Pans & Company, Pizza
Hut, and Quiosques - Norteshopping; restaurant teams
from Òkilo and Pasta Caffé – Dolce Vita Antas).
a) Education / Training
Ibersol is responsible for the technological compo-
nent of the Technical Food Service Course at Group
of Schools of António Nobre. Under this project, the
course’s trainees train at Ibersol restaurants situated
in the Dolce Vita Antas shopping centre. Such coopera-
tion is possible because Ibersol has a training and de-
velopment structure able to support these youths by
creating positive expectations regarding a career plan,
besides helping them join the business world.
In 2013, Ibersol’s teaching team provided 459 hours of
training. The following brands were involved: Pans & Com-
pany, Pizza Hut and KFC. They hosted the students over-
seeing their training and all necessary monitoring, besides
assessing their performance throughout the sessions.
