Occupational Health and Safety
The Ibersol Group recognizes that its employees’ safety
and wellbeing favours the overall performance of the
organization. That’s why workplace safety is among the
Group’s service quality standards.
To raise internal awareness about the importance of
workplace safety conditions, in 2012 a key aspect was
the implementation of
self-protection measures
in all
units.
Emergency situations are rare and, possibly for that
reason, the need to prepare employees for safe and
effective intervention is often neglected. To counter this
tendency, Ibersol gathered the safety pivots from each
business and asked them to raise awareness about the
occupational health and safety standards, focusing on
self-protection measures and emergency intervention.
In line with the set goals, the working team gave special
priority to creating
Safety Teams
for each unit, as well
as training their members in first aid and fire-fighting.
Training ran until the end of the year, endowing each
unit with brigades more aware and prepared for even-
tual emergency situations.
Despite these efforts, the number of labour accidents
suffered by Ibersol employees increased in 2012. But
more detailed analysis shows a major change in the
characteristics of those accidents.
Accidents which usually occur more often, such as pe-
ople falling, minor cuts and road accidents on external
service, fell considerably in 2012. However, the drop in
such accidents was more than countered by the sharp
rise in accidents caused by manual load moving and im-
proper postures, as well as accidents en route.
To stimulate the ‘spirit of prevention’ among its employe-
es, Ibersol will continue to invest in safety throughout
the coming year, addressing its efforts to preventing the
accident situations that were more critical in 2012.
